Cinnamon’ had a rough life growing up on the streets of Thailand until she was rescued by a young local family. During these years on the streets, she incurred many injuries and is now affected by a condition called Cauda Equina that affects her lower spine, causing pain and weakness. ‘Cinnamon’ has been reluctant to play with the family’s other dog, ‘Milo’, jump and generally enjoy her life!
In August 2011, Cinnamon began rehabilitation at The SPAW. She has been receiving Laser Therapy of her lower spine for pain relief and underwater treadmill exercise and specific exercises to help strengthen her hind end. She has recently been able to discontinue her pain relief medication and is starting to be more active, confident and overall happier! Last week, she started initiating play with ‘Milo’ and jumped up on the owners when they returned home from work!
Hazel and Mike Smith will forever be blessed to have had Tical part of their lives. The bond began in January of 2001, when their son Blaine rescued him from the Surrey SPCA. Tical soon became a very important part of the family and when Hazel was alone in the home, having Tical beside her, she felt totally safe.
They have so many fond memories of him. He loved going to the Delta watershed park, long runs with Hazel and loved going in Mike's truck. The mention of the word "truck" would get him galloping up and down the hallway.Tical came to the Spaw and were all blessed to have spent some time working with him. He quickly responded to the Laser treatment and enjoyed coming to walk on the underwater treadmill. We were all optimistic on Tical's condition and it is reassuring that his last days with the family were spent doing what he loved to do. Spending times walking, swimming and being adored by his dedicated family. Tical enriched the lives of all that were lucky to have met him.
